JOB DESCRIPTION
Planner (Construction)
Job Purpose
* The Planner (Construction) provides planning / scheduling expertise to the project
team (especially for construction) ensuring overall project schedule quality and
integrity to support project execution. The Planner (Construction) will perform
various EPC schedule analysis to determine potential area of concern and
coordinate inputs for mitigation plan.
Reporting and Relationships
* Reports to the Construction Division Manager with functional reporting to
Business Division Manager
* Direct reports: zero
Internal
* Frequent interaction within Barzan Restoration Project organisation.
* Regular interaction with Execution Planning and Services (EP&S) Performance & Delivery, other PMTs, and other support departments.
External
* Regular contact with stakeholders, EPC contractor, subcontractors, vendors, suppliers, and 3rd party service providers.
Job Context & Major Challenge(s)
* Requires to understand the key project drivers, define roles and responsibilities, develop communication protocols, identify, develop & implement project procedures for planning, scheduling, reporting, progress measurement
* Major challenges are (1) completing detailed assessments of project planning / scheduling, recovery / rectification plans in short deadlines and a high-pressure environment and (2) developing and sustaining relationships with EPC contractor Project Controls Planning team throughout project execution to ensure Company is provided with timely and the best available information to aid decision making.
* Understand the EPC contractors progress reporting system. Analyse and report the impact of engineering, procurement constraints/delays, SIMOPS on construction progress curves and ultimately the L3 & L4 construction project schedules.
* Understand the EPC contractors & Subcontractors work face planning process. Analyse and report the impact of construction readiness constraints (PTW, SIMPOS, equipment, tools, manpower etc) on construction L3 & L4 project schedules.

1. Coordinate input from PMT functions such as engineering, procurement, demolition, construction, completion, interface etc to support EPC schedule validation. Perform all planning, and scheduling functions, including schedule development, control, analysis, and schedule recommendations for improvement.
2. Ensure effective project planning / scheduling are executed by the contractors and subcontractors' organizations.
3. Support the preparation of project controls Gates deliverables specially planning / scheduling deliverables in line with Company Project Management System.
4. Review and ensure effective implementation and updating the EPC Project Planning / Scheduling procedure.
5. Collect, consolidate, analyse, and report schedule trend and progress (productivity) to ensure overall project status is assessed and potential problem areas identified. Conduct schedule delay / impact analysis, review of schedule recovery plans, including evaluation of additional resources required to affect such plans.
6. Implement project changes, ensure schedule impacts are assessed and reflected & considered; ensure incorporation of approved changes impact into overall schedule stewardship and reporting.
7. Evaluate contractor's performance in areas of project controls (planning / scheduling) assessing any discrepancies and reverting to contractor for clarifications/corrections. Identify and ensure appropriate planning systems, fully integrated and appropriate for the project.
8. Review Contractor schedule and associated resources and interact with PMT to address potential area of concern and provide planning / scheduling support to overcome the execution challenges.
Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree in business, Accounting, Commercial, Marketing, Sciences, Engineering, Project Management, Supply Chain Management, Law, Communication, Technologies, Mathematics, and Statistics
Knowledge and/or Experience
* 6 years' experience in business related function or discipline, including 2 years in the Oil & Gas Industry.
* Experience with EPC Contractors, Sub-contractors and Vendors involved in the oil and gas industry.
Technical and Business Skills
* Undertakes complex tasks and acts as a source of guidance for staff and internal customers. Is expected to handle all but the most complex problems and difficulties that might arise.
* Takes initiatives, based on experienced gained, to deliver timely and cost effective service.
* Sets situations/issues in the context of the entire team and has an appreciation of the wider relationships with other people and organizations.
* Works independently within established procedures, plans and budgets and contributes to the development of these.
* Has autonomy over scheduling and planning of own work;
* Excellent written and oral English skills.
* Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
* Good computer literacy skills: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Database/Power BI and Scheduling Software, e.g. Primavera (mandatory - advanced level) and other scheduling software.
* Good team work and collaboration skills.
