Engineering Lead (Hydrographic)

Job Purpose
* Responsible for leading and coordinating all hydrographic and survey engineering activities in support specifically for RLIC Port dredging and reclamation project an in general for all nearshore developments involving project portfolio. The role ensures the accurate acquisition, processing, and interpretation of bathymetric, geophysical, and geospatial data required for project design, installation, and operations.
* The position provides technical leadership to multidisciplinary teams, ensuring survey activities are executed in compliance with project specifications, international standards, and HSE requirements.
* The Engineering Lead Hydrographic acts as the focal point for all survey-related matters, interfacing with project management, marine operations, contractors, and stakeholders to ensure data quality, schedule adherence, and cost efficiency across the project lifecycle
Reporting and Relationships
* Reports to Project Manager (Dredging)
* Direct reports: None
Internal
* Interfaces with various project teams and departments within Dredging Project team & in general Offplot PMT and Offplot interface and construction team.
External
* Regular contact with EPC Contractor/subcontractors and RLIC technical team and Marine Operation team.
Job Context & Major Challenge(s)
* Position is in Doha office or located in Project Site Offices in Ras Laffan, Qatar.
* This position is responsible to ensure all technical activities related to Hydrographic surveys are executed to Project's specifications and requirements.
* This could involve technical evaluations, including risk-based evaluation of complex engineering issues, resolution of discipline related matters with significant project execution and/or commercial impact to ensure optimum outcomes that meet technical and execution expectations.

Key Job Accountabilities
1. Lead the planning, execution, and delivery of hydrographic, geophysical, and geotechnical survey activities for offshore LNG projects
2. Define survey scopes of work, technical specifications, and methodologies in line with project requirements
3. Manage and supervise survey contractors, ensuring compliance with contractual, technical, and HSE standards
4. Review and approve survey procedures, reports, and deliverables (e.g. bathymetry, seabed mapping, route surveys)
5. Ensure data quality control, validation, and integration into engineering and design processes
6. Interface with subsea, pipeline, marine, and installation teams to support design and execution activities
7. Identify and mitigate risks related to seabed conditions, survey uncertainties, and marine operations
8. Support project planning, budgeting, and scheduling of survey campaigns
9. Ensure compliance with international standards and best practices (e.g. IHO, IMCA, ISO)
10. Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and survey specialists
Qualifications
* Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Hydrography/Geomatics/ Geophysics.) or Ocean Engineering
Knowledge and/or Experience
* 8 years' experience in Engineering roles, including 4 years in the Oil & Gas Industry, and including 1 year experience in a supervisory or acting role, or oversight of contractor/sub- contractors/service/vendor personnel.
* Experience with Oil & Gas Companies, EPC contractors, sub- contractors, vendors or service companies involved in the oil and gas industry.
* Experience managing contractors and third-party vendors, in several phased of the projects, preferably done a complete project from FEED to Start-up.
* Experience in technology adoption and implementation of continuous improvement.
* Experience in offshore construction, subsea pipelines, and marine operations
* Familiarity with international standards (IHO, IMCA) and HSE requirements
* Proven experience in contractor management and project coordination
* Experience in Middle East projects (preferably Qatar) is an advantage
