Construction Area Manager


Job Purpose

* Manage and oversee the construction activities performed by the EPC

contractor and sub-contractors, ensuring safe execution of the project within the approved project budget and schedule. Drive construction readiness and execution to meet project objectives and support flawless facility start-up.

Reporting and Relationships

* Reports to Construction Division Manager ( Train 4&6 Restorration Project)

* Direct reports: 5

Internal

* Frequent contact with engineering, construction, OPCO interface, project controls, quality, and systems completion teams.

External

* Frequent contact with EPC contractor, sub-contractors, and QE asset owners

Job Context & Major Challenge(s)

* Champion a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with HSE policies

and procedures. Conduct and participate in risk assessments.

* Work in a highly visible project environment with significant expectations for

flawless project execution in safety, quality, cost, and schedule performance.

* Develop and implement construction execution strategies, plans, and

schedules based on project objectives and key milestone dates.

* Responsible for the construction activities including reporting, reviewing of

technical documentation and manage contractor's and subcontractor's

execution activities at site

* Monitor contractor performance against contractual requirements

* Evaluate contractor claims, change orders, equipment, and labor billing.

* Identify and rectify risks and opportunities impacting project performance

* Support pre-commissioning, commissioning, strat-up and project handover

Key Job Accountabilities

1. Promote incident-free operations through continuous monitoring and leadership engagement.

2. Monitor project progress and take corrective actions to mitigate delays and cost overruns.

3. Coordinate multidisciplinary teams including engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, and operations.

4. Review and approve construction methodologies, work packs, lifting plans, and site procedures.

5. Optimize resource allocation, productivity, and construction sequencing.

6. Identify and resolve construction constraints and interface issues.

7. Ensure timely completion of milestones and project deliverables.

8. Review progress reports, manpower deployment, and productivity metrics. Track construction costs and progress against approved baselines.

9. Participate in recovery planning and schedule optimization initiatives.

10. Maintain effective communication with clients, consultants, contractors, and project teams. Participate in management meetings and provide senior-level status updates.

Person Specification


Qualifications

* Bachelor's degree in Science or Engineering.

Knowledge and/or Experience

* 15 years experience with Large Projects in Construction related disciplines (e.g., construction, installation, fabrication, execution, completion, hook-up, etc.) in the Oil & Gas Industry, including 5 years of management level experience in Construction relayed disciplines,

engineering, or project management with overall responsibility for an EPC execution.

* Experience with Oil and Gas companies, contractors, service companies, or heavy construction companies.

* Broad and extensive knowledge of design standards, specifications, codes, and appropriate safety criteria related to major fabrication, transport, installation, brownfield execution, and hook-up, as applicable to the project scope.

* Knowledge of offshore facilities and structures, onshore facilities, or yard operations as applicable to a project scope.

* Extensive knowledge of execution methods and risks associated with sour gas and LNG production facilities.

* Experience working in large scale operating organizations in Operations, Projects, Subsurface, etc.

* Proven track record of Project delivery in the industry and managing EPC contractors and sub-contractors.

* Excellent track record in construction safety results.

Technical and Business Skills

* Proficient in Word, Excel, Adobe, PowerPoint and Outlook

* Good organizational, planning, communication, and execution skills.

* Well-developed coordination and planning skills.

* Well-developed interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate with several organisational levels
