Job Description - Engineering Manager

Job Purpose

Ensures all elements of NFW engineering requirements are achieved & available in terms of requirements, specification, best practices, resources and responsible to provide functional guidance to PMT as necessary. This role will also be responsible to lead all engineering activities for MP studies executed by the technical team.

Reporting and Relationships

Reports to Senior Project Manager - NFW FEED Project

Direct reports: 5

Internal

Regular interfaces and collaboration with NFW Senior Project Manager, Project Manager, and Project Management Team.

Frequent contact with NFS PMT (Engineering Manager, Construction Manager, Business manager, Operations division manager, discipline Heads, and Leads).

External

Continuous interaction with FEED contractor managers, associated vendors, and Engineering subcontractors.

Regular engagement with shareholder representative.

Job Context & Major Challenge(s)

• Manages and coordinates the engineering activities of the NFW pre-FEED and FEED ensuring design robutstness and timely issuance of deliverables.
• Major challenges of this role are maintaining constructive and close collaboration with NFS PMT, NFS Operations, Engineering contractor to ensure delivery of Engineering in accordance with project requirements.

• As defined for this job level in the Delegation of Authority and/or approved budget.

Key Job Accountabilities

Provides engineering leadership and expertise to Project Management Team (PMT) to ensure alignment on project engineering needs, objectives, and requirements.

Manage engineering studies by working with the right SMEs to properly define the scope, ensuring alignment with stakeholders and to also identify the right contractors for performing such studies. This also entails identification of necessary resources to manage these studies and providing necessary support to management to manage approvals as necessary.

Assesses engineering contractor capability with respect to compliance with QatarEnergy policies for prevention of information brokering, business standards guidelines, engineering and design procedures, processes, and deliverables, staffing plans, personnel suitability and adequacy, ensuring PMT or other technical support is available to address gaps.

Provide functional support to PMTs in all engineering matters including deployment of best practices and guidelines that would assist PMTs in avoiding scope creep and also meet the engineering quality standards.

Responsible for maintaining technical alignment with QatarEnergy Operations, SHEQ, E&P and other pertinent department within corporate QatarEnergy. Takes initiative and assumes responisibilities in resolving and technical issues that may arise due to Operations requirements.

Responsible for previous lessons learned knowledge and capturing and communicating design lessons learned & best practices to the PMTs.

This role is expected to lead and participate in key technical reviews to ensure engineering activities are well optimised to achieve intended value.

Minimum Requirements

Qualifications

• Bachelors' degree in an Engineering discipline.

Knowledge and/or Experience

• 15 years' experience preferably within the Oil & Gas industry, of which 10 years' operating at a senior project engineering management level with overall responsibility for engineering execution.
• Broad and extensive knowledge of engineering design standards, specifications, codes and appropriate safety criteria.
• Broad knowledge of offshore and onshore facilities design, construction and operations, with an in-depth knowledge of one or more of the following engineering areas: material & corrosion, piping or mechanical engineering.
• Broad knowledge of engineering administration.

• Proficient in Microsoft Office suite of software programs, Lotus notes etc.
