Job Purpose

Major Projects Integration is a department within the Major Projects group that provides leadership, management, stewardship and coordination services to Internal Projects, External Stakeholders, Senior Management and Shareholders.

The Planning Lead purpose and responsibility is to provide schedule development, maintenance, monitor and control of confidential and sensitive schedule and cost related data, schedule and planning evaluation / examination, schedule and cost developmental consolidation, cost reporting and analysing, monitoring and formulating cost improvement recommendations.


Key Accountabilities

(Duties include but not limited to)

  • Maintains effective communication with project teams and departments to resolve issues requiring initiative, flexibility and an ability to influence in order to effectively plan and execute project activities
  • Faultless schedule planning and delivery utilizing multi-range schedule and planning software suites; accountable for collecting schedule and cost data from projects within the Major Projects portfolio, development, maintaining and monitoring delivery of Major Projects Integrated schedule/s and planning tools
  • The ideal candidate must be proficient in Primavera P6 Version 22 and above; hands on experience in integrating multiple EPC Project Level 4 and 3 schedules and producing management level 1 and 0 schedules; accuracy, efficiency, and speed are vital
  • Delivery of clearly communicated presentations articulating schedule and cost delivery, forecasts, progress, deficits, and proposed mitigations; develop timely and concise reporting on governance activities and compliance to ensure effective management of activities through the governance processes and timely escalation of any potential concerns
  • Responsible for quantifying effects and impacts associated with business changes in the overall schedule for stewardship purposes
  • Inform Integration Project Management Team (PMT): Division Leads, Heads, Managers and Senior Project Manager of any potential schedule issues and impacts; provide guidance, corrective action, and measures to mitigate adverse trends
  • Review and check Major Project's portfolio EPC Contractor's progress reports for progress measurement accuracy; review and endorse schedule and progress baseline and forecast proposed by project/s; analyses schedule and progress trends reported by projects
  • Support Integration PMT with project/s schedule and cost progress analysis, reporting and forecasting activities; periodically update different levelled schedules to incorporate schedule updates from various projects
  • Periodically monitor interfaces and liaise with project teams to mitigate adverse trends
  • Respond to ad-hoc requests from PMT related to scheduling and reporting including development of progress metrics and key performance indicators
  • Special Projects as needed, to support Governance activities


Reporting and Relationships

  • Reports to Project Integration & Planning Division Manager
  • Direct reports: None
  • Daily interaction with Integration Team consisting of Technical Assistants, Project Coordination Analysts, Division Leads, Division Managers, and Integration Senior Project Manager
  • Frequent interaction with various Major Project's Business Planning Teams, Business Leads, Heads and Managers
  • Regular contact with Chief Major Projects Officer (CMPO), Major Projects Leadership Team, Departments (e.g., Shared Services, Legal, Supply, etc.) and Project Teams for Subsurface, Offshore, Onshore and Shipping


Job Context & Major Challenge(s)

  • Ability to demonstrate flexibility and extend workhours when required to ensure critical deadlines are achieved, maintain confidentiality, restrict information sharing outside of Integration Team and adhere to stringent confidential communication protocols
  • Developing robust schedules with Primavera P6, maintaining the schedule, and effectively communicating the schedule performance
  • Exhibit leadership competences to collaborate with diverse executive-level Integration Project Management Team (PMT): Integration Division Heads, Managers and Integration Senior Project Manager
  • Proficient at referencing, development and implementation of project and corporate procedures and processes, coordinate / facilitate planning meetings and workshops including development of agendas, scribing, actions and monitoring to closure
  • Collecting information and data from multiple sources and ensuring accuracy and completeness for various stakeholders, while often working under considerable time constraints
  • Contribute constructively to maintaining and improving Integration performance by leading by example, taking ownership and responsibility, strategize independently and in collaborative forums, cohabit in a motivated collaborator environment, anticipate issues, avoid negative situations, provide robust planning management practices, consistently contribute and deliver in a professional manner

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business or Engineering or Equivalent Experience

Knowledge and/or Experience

  • Minimum 10 years project executing related experience, 6 years' experience in a Major Projects environment within the oil and gas industry or similar industry experience in a business support / reporting capacity with significant knowledge of large projects, proven demonstrated ability to proactively resolve issues by developing effective solutions independently
  • Experience of working with National Oil Companies or International Oil Companies will be an advantage
