Job Specification

Job Purpose

  • Responsible for delivering the Commercial management plans for the NFXP Onshore Project EPC Contracts. Develop and implement the Claims Avoidance and Management Procedure along with associated commercial management processes and communicate across PMT. Coordinate the development and stewardship of Commerical Plans for the NFXP Onshore Project.
  • Responsible for providing technical, commercial and functional direction related to all aspects of overall Claims Avoidance and Management, including the formulation and administration of strategies, associated governance, claims register, internal position papers, health checks and case files, and coordinating overall project responses.
  • Liaise with project team personnel in technical and functional guidance on contract management. Maintain contact with other Management personnel and Functional Managers.

Reporting and Relationships

  • Reports to NFXP Onshore Project Business Division Manager (Commercial and Controls)- . The position is based at the Site Offices in RLIC, Qatar.
  • Position has 2 direct reports.
  • Management of 3rd Party Experts, such as Claims Avoidance and Consultancy firms.
  • Potential for regular contact with the EPC-1, EPC-2, EPC-3 and EPC-4 Contractors, their sub-contractors and vendors during the execution of the project.

Job Context & Major Challenge(s)

  • Understand key project drivers and context and provide credible and practical commercial strategies and plans in a complex contractual environment.
  • Ensuring project's ability to avoid claims and to the extent they occur, be ready to manage them. Managing commercial performance by anticipating issues, avoiding situations that impact the project adversely and reducing the frequency of poor outcomes with EPC Contractors on a demanding megaproject.
  • Able to work in a highly visible project environment with large capital expenditures and significant schedule execution pressures, as well as within a dynamic team that has high expectations for flawless project execution in safety, quality, cost and schedule performance, requiring the incumbent to demonstrate accuracy, initiative and the ability to multi-task as essential skills.

  • Key Job Accountabilities (Max 10, each unique, exclude generic)

    • Support the development and implementation of Post-Award Contract Management Strategies and Scenarios for overall NFXP Onshore delivery management.

    • Support NFXP Onshore Project Management in the evaluation and planning related to claims avoidance and commercial management and prepare material required for stakeholders, including in-depth assessments and actionable analysis.

    • Conduct Delay Analyses to support Company positioning and development of response strategies to potential or active claims, and develop Contract Entitlement Assessments, laising with Legal and Supply to ensure alignment on assessment outcome.

    • Develop Position Papers to drive alignment across stakeholders and provide a unified approach to common claims across EPCs enabling fair treatment and avoiding precedent setting.

    • Provide central support to the Project Management Team's Commercial activities and coordinate input with Supply, Legal and other Major Project Groups / PMT functions, as required.

    • Maintain and enhance upon the Claims Avoidance and Management procedure. Ensure updates capture best practices that enhance the Claims Avoidance and Management Program.

    Minimum Requirements


    • Bachelor's degree in Business Management, Project Management or Law.

    Knowledge and/or Experience

    • Minimum of 10 years experience in a major project environment within the oil and gas industry, with exposure in business and contract management including project controls, cost and schedule development, tender preparation and contract management and 3 years supervising multi discipline and multi-cultural teams and as Head of Claims for megaprojects.
